Happenings.
Thursday evening Mario and I were joined by our favorite pals in San Antonio, Jillian and Noah Palone, on an evening of art events. We started our night out at the McNay Art Museum for a showing of several short films created by Mark and Angela Walley. Their work ranges from artist documentaries to creative shorts. These two are incredibly talented and creative and I would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking of documenting work or turning an idea into a visually/mentally stimulating work of art.
We had to scoot off a little early in order to catch out next endeavor but I was able to see the first half. I particularly enjoyed Youth Divers, which you can view at this link along with many others.
Next, we set off to the Pearl Brewery area for Pecha Kucha night to hear eight local artist give short presentations on their work and ideas. Among the presenters were:
Jenny Browne, Callie Enlow, Chip Henderson, Angelina Mata, Gary Schott, Jamie Stolarski, Gary Sweeney, and Peter Zubiate.
It proved to be both exciting and inspirational. Presentations like this are going to be a recurring event and I plan to attend many in the future.
My first outing as a San Antonio resident was exactly what I needed to get my feet wet socially and I look forward to seeing what else this town has to offer.
Cross your fingers as I am currently job hunting and simultaneously getting my business off the ground. I plan to share with you the struggles of starting a business and I hope to post a few helpful hints that have been tough to figure out- that will be soon to come!
