Hooray for Sonya!
Sonya Clark is one of my favorite artists and inspirational voices. Congratulations to her for being awarded one of the USA Fellowship Grants along with 49 other American artists ranging from music to dance,literature, film, theater, visual arts and design. This is a very prestigious award and she very much deserves the recognition.
I am also very happy because the Southwest School of Art just installed a wonderful exhibition of her work in the Navarro Campus Gallery. She will be speaking at the Textiles Symposium here January 21st and I will be anxiously awaiting her talk. I am able to view many of her pieces that before, I had only seen on the computer screen.
Sonya is tremendously talented and so very thoughtful in her work. I admire her intelligence and method of working and aspire to be a strong female voice as she is for our craft community. Mark your calendars for her speak!
